Think of a carrier hotel as a single facility that houses multiple data centers owned by the building and other independent operators. All of these colocation areas are then connected to a central point within the building known as the Meet Me Room via Ethernet, coax, fiber, etc. The Meet Me Room is the heart and soul of the facility as it is the neutral room (not owned by the carriers or providers) where interconnections take place to facilitate the buying, selling, and trading of services between Meet Me Room members.

Since 1102 GRAND is a neutral facility, tenants purchase their space, power, and cooling directly from us (the building owners) and then arrange for the bandwidth and any other desired services separately. Not only do tenants have a wide range of providers to choose from, but they do not have to worry about a middle person marking up the pricing or fear they will have to move to a different colocation location simply because they do not wish to continue purchasing from a provider whose service did not meet their needs. Instead, in the carrier hotel model, tenants simply have their cross connect moved to a different provider of their choosing. In addition, tenants can easily add redundant connections to other providers or cross connect with a value added service provider to access additional services such as a peering fabric or data backup specialist. Moreover, we also have a managed services group to assist with remote hands services you need in order to run your business reliably and cost effectively.

In addition, 1102 GRAND is a member of the Carrier Hotel Alliance (CHA) which professionally links us to dozens of premier interconnection facilities around the country. So if you are in need of a multi-market solution in addition to a presence in Kansas City, just let us know. Whether you need to be located in Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, or somewhere in between, we or one of our carrier hotel partners are here to help.
